What is Clean Truck Check (CTC)?
Clean Truck Check (CTC) is CARB's emissions testing program for heavy-duty vehicles. It requires periodic emissions testing to ensure trucks and buses meet California's air quality standards.
What's the difference between OBD and OVI?
OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) uses the vehicle's diagnostic port to check emissions systems electronically ($75). OVI (Opacity/Visual Inspection) uses a smoke opacity meter to measure exhaust emissions directly ($199). OVI is typically used for older vehicles that don't support OBD testing.
How do I know which test I need?
Generally, 2013 and newer trucks need the OBD test, while older trucks need the OVI (smoke opacity) test. If you're unsure, contact us and we can help determine which test your vehicle requires.
What about motorhomes?
We test motorhomes too. Motorhome OBD testing is $99 and motorhome OVI testing is $229.
What are the CARB testing deadlines?
Check your vehicle's testing status at ctcvis.arb.ca.gov. Testing is required twice per year starting 2026.
What are the penalties for non-compliance?
Penalties start at $1,000 per vehicle and increase with continued non-compliance. Vehicles may also face registration holds.
How does mobile testing work?
You book a test, we come to your yard with all equipment, test on-site, and handle the CARB submission. No need to drive to a testing center.
